This is a stunning, and VERY hard to find Near Mint Vintage Herend Hand Painted Scallop Shell Floral Butterfly Dish. For your consideration, Herend scalloped Shell Dish. This bowl displays Queen Victoria butterfly and floral patterns. The entire rim/edge on this piece is adorned in 24K Gold. I have always been struck by the sheer vibrancy of the colors at play throughout the bowl’s structure. They have NOT faded over time, but rather maintained this almost 3-Dimensional “popping” high luminosity. Look closely at the hand painted flowers and butterflies within. The detail here is absolutely mesmerizing, especially when one considers that this was done by human hands, with nothing but a fine brush. Likewise, the detail within the flowers and leaves is truly exquisite. This is not a vague depiction of nature’s beauty, but rather a mirror image in many ways. Even within a single leaf, not the variation in color hues. This piece does not incorporate monotone, solid colors – instead relying on a seamless “mixed hue” blend of colors to create its otherworldly design. Running along the entire rim of this piece, is a 24K gold accented lip. Needless to say, when this piece is exposed to that of natural light, it almost seems to glow! The painted designs are already incredibly vibrant as is. Add to that a 24K gold reflective rim and the light truly radiates from this wonderful vintage Herend bowl. As for the bowl itself, it is in near mint condition. No cracks, no repairs, no chips. The ONLY form of VERY minor wear on this piece would be a very slight wearing of the 24K rim in a few spots. This slight wearing of the reflective gold rim is (again) incredibly slight, and only noticeable if you are REALLY looking closely at the piece. I would rate the overall condition of this piece a 9.8/10. The bowl is beautifully hand inscribed “Herend Hungary Handpainted” at the bottom, and has the etched MPN 7444. 9″ Long, 8-5/8″ Wide. Overall, a truly exquisite vintage Herend, limited edition piece in near mint form. The value of vintage Herend pieces (especially in this condition) will only go up over time.
